Frequently Asked Questions:

  • What if I have no prior experience?

    • The majority of our team is made up of players whose first experience with lacrosse is at JCMS - you'll be surprised how quickly you pick it up?

  • What do I need to try out?
    • Players should have a stick, helmet, gloves, chest pad, elbow pads, cleats, athletic cup, mouth piece, and water bottle. Players also need a valid KHSAA physical to try out. If a player makes the team they will also need to have a valid USA Lacrosse membership (USA Lacrosse number).
  • Do I need to supply my own equipment?
    • For the most part, yes - Jessie Clark provides team jerseys, as well as the appropriate stick for players the coaching staff determines may play long-pole (defense) or goalie. Lacrosse equipment can vary drastically and is personal to each player. JCMS does have a limited inventory of equipment it has available to borrow; if you anticipate needing to borrow equipment, contact Coach Sommer ASAP at jcmslax@gmail.com
  • When is the lacrosse season?
    • Lacrosse tryouts are typically mid-February. Once the team is announced, practices begin late February, with the first games beginning early March and ending early May.
